Intro

Nine years ago I was purchased by my owner.  She came into the shop and I immediately perked up and tried to impress.  Her shopping style was carried out with scrutiny but I knew as long as she looked my way I would be hers forever.

Over the past nine years I have carried her excess luggage from the United States to Australia, lugged her books while she achieved a Masters degree at Southern Cross University, I have been the receptacle for clothes, personal treasures and possessions as she moved around Australia trying to find the perfect home base and I have taken care of her towels, swimming costumes and goggles while she paced up and down Olympic Swimming pools from Coffs Harbour to Canberra.  The pinnacle of my destiny is my return to Vermont and I would like to share this journey with you - are you up for the ride?

Travel has always been my soul's aphrodisiac.  It has been an opportunity to drink in diverse cultures, tasting the sprinkles of accents and digesting their energy into my being.  From my perspective travel has broadened my
perception of life, a perfect balance of people and the connection with nature.  Over my association with my owner (let's call her, Mistress - although she prefers "Goddess") I have acquired a highly tuned palate from supping the ambrosia of life.

My sojourn into women's gatherings with intellectual jousting and laborious endeavour over philosophical mantras and belief systems have encouraged reflection and an elevated rhetoric what I mean is that I see life very differently than I did while perched high on my shelf in Vermont.  For example, imagine if we could be all we could be, in one breath, one instant, would we exhale the toxins of our past and breathe in the freshness of the moment?  Would it hurt?  Or, what would we have to change?  Could we take a risk with the new?  Or should we?  For some, holidays are special time to relax, rub on some tanning oil and sleep by a tanzanite pool or undertake the adventure of mountains to climb or races to run but for me the perfect vacation has been the trip from Vancouver to Alaska.  It has been a melting pot of experiences flavoured with numerous superlatives and dusted with clichés.  This is not a travelogue as such, it is a revelation of experiences. Sure, my dialogue is peppered with a recount of images and filtered through my zippers, pockets and sections of my experiences as a spiritual documentary.

This is essentially a serialisation of a free ebook, however if you've enjoyed the reading experience then consider a tuppence or two.  A percentage of the contribution received will be donated to NAMI (National Alliance for Mental Illness - www.nami.org).  NAMI is a support organisation for those who are carers of people with mental illness.  It is a worthy cause and one which we will share together as we skip hand in strap across, Canada, Alaska and North America and settle into each other's exhausted bodies as we return back across the Pacific to Australia.
